Office makeover: design study for competition winners

With clear wording, Informaticon AG from Thun is entering the office makeover competition: “Our staff room was built before the war and since then, unfortunately, no designer or builder has ever set foot in it.” The design proposal from Messerli creates a remedy.

Call for help from Thun heard

The break room of the company Informaticon from Thun has been a thorn in the side of the roughly 100 staff for a long time: an old microwave, old chairs and pure boredom. An inspiring and relaxing meeting zone definitely looks different.

As part of the competition prize, Messerli developed a space concept that Informaticon could use in future as a break room and lunch room or for short meetings. Because the company has rented the rooms, only temporary constructions that can be resized at other venues are possible.

The concept proposal from Messerli creates clear zones and quiet areas in the light room with a magnificent view of the Bernese Alps. Wall cupboards and a bar complete the existing kitchen line so that additional workspaces and storage areas are created. A long windowsill invites you to relax and enjoy the mountain landscape. A recycling collection point is also integrated into it. The popular table football table and a corner for reading or for short meetings round off the offering for staff.

With these design studies, the competition prize of CHF 10,000 has now been won. We hope that we were able to show the Informaticon team a vision of their future break room with our proposals and ideas. And we would of course be delighted to support them in the implementation of their ideas in the future.
