Ronal AG, IAA 2019, Frankfurt
At this year’s International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, Ronal AG celebrated its 50-year anniversary. In close cooperation with Messerli, Ronal took visitors to the exhibition on a small journey of discovery.
This year’s International Motor Show in Frankfurt attracted a large number of exhibitors and thousands of curious car enthusiasts, including Ronal, the world-famous manufacturer of light alloy wheels.
The Swiss company celebrated its 50th anniversary together with customers and visitors with an exhibition. For this purpose, Messerli developed a custom stand and exhibition design and took care of the planning and construction of the stand. When it came to the architectural concept, the design team took inspiration from the 1970s and 1980s.
The showstopper: a Ford Capri
The stand, which spanned an area of 150 m2, was open on three sides and visually divided by blue panels. These panels were hung from the ceiling, creating an airy atmosphere. Brightly coloured back-lit printed columns served to guide visitors through the exhibits from the past five decades. This allowed them to experience Ronal’s history at first hand.
In addition to a wide range of wheel rims, another vintage classic was on display: a yellow Ford Capri with original OE wheels from Ronal was positioned in the centre of the stand and attracted a great deal of attention. These wheels marked the first time that Ronal received a contract as an original equipment manufacturer.
Its appearance at IAA allowed Ronal to meet new potential customers and offered the company the perfect platform to showcase its latest product innovations. The success of Ronal’s appearance at IAA was also thanks in part to its long-standing and successful collaboration with Messerli.
