Zenith

Pioneering presentation – a historic achievement

Zenith SA, Baselworld 2019, Basel

Ever since Zenith presented El Primero, the first-ever automatic chronograph, 50 years ago, the watchmaker has represented innovation and precision perhaps more than any other. At Baselworld, they presented the latest version of El Primero – and highlighted the company’s innovative strength through a futuristic presentation..

In honour of their 50-year anniversary, rather than indulge in nostalgia, Zenith highlighted the message of its future-oriented approach to “The Future of Swiss Watch Making” with large-scale projections and holograms.

The Defy El Primero 21, which allows for measurements of 1/100th of a second, builds a bridge from the past to these new perspectives. With the Defy Experience, Zenith dedicated a special exhibition to this chronograph at its trade fair booth. In a darkened room, a large 3D hologram wall presented the innovative movement in a spectacular way.

The play of light continued on the front facade of the trade fair booth: the oversized movement, which was already a highlight of Zenith’s trade fair appearances in previous years, was projected onto the booth, displaying the time.

Messerli helped Zenith implement the technically complex and intricately designed trade fair booth and also supported them at a number of parallel events such as press conferences. Across all these events, the watchmaker was able to position itself as an innovation leader in front of an international audience.
