EuroShop 2026
Top trends for successful exhibition stands

Which trends will shape the future of successful exhibition stands? EuroShop 2026, the international trend barometer for retail, brand staging and experience design, has the answers. To mark its 60th anniversary, 1,840 exhibitors from 141 countries presented the latest innovations in trade fair construction in 14 halls. 25 of our attending employees have summarised the most important developments for effective trade fair presentations. We’re keen to pass these on so below are five important trends that they observed.

#1 Eye-catching visuals as frequency drivers

In a trade fair environment increasingly marked by information overload, the success of an exhibition stand depends on visitors’ first impressions. Strong, eye-catching visuals are essential for attracting visitors to a stand. Large-scale LED installations, dynamic lighting design, moving elements and a combination of digital and physical components all ensure maximum visibility.

A trade fair stand should be designed to direct attention to itself as a whole, rather than to its individual components. Haptics are also gaining in importance: materials that encourage multi-sensory engagement extend dwell time and increase brand awareness.

#2 Interactive experience over passive observation

There’s a growing trend toward interaction in trade fair presentations. Today’s visitors prefer engaging experiences over passive information intake. Gamification, multi-sensory experiences and immersive technologies create emotional brand loyalty and increase the engagement rate.

Digital applications such as virtual fitting rooms, place-and-learn technologies and interactive touchpoints create innovative access to the brand world while at the same time offering tangible added value for stand visitors. These interactive elements should not be used in isolation, but rather as a strategic part of the overall stand concept, seamlessly integrated to generate attention and support the brand message.

Another striking aspect of EuroShop was the importance of active involvement by the staff, who approached and assisted visitors trying out the touchpoints. This direct engagement made the presented products and services tangible and allowed visitors to experience the additional value of the digital applications.
At the same time, EuroShop demonstrated a clear trend towards the use of dramatic effect in exhibition stand design. Purposeful routing, storytelling and themed zones turn spaces into immersive brand worlds that intuitively guide visitors through, and reinforce, the brand message.

#3 Sustainability provides a competitive edge

In 2026, a decisive success factor in exhibition stand construction is sustainability and companies are systematically investing in resource-saving concepts, modular stand systems and reusable materials that combine environmental responsibility with economic efficiency.

Exhibitors at EuroShop are increasingly opting for recycled materials, energy-efficient technologies and adaptable, durable design solutions. At the same time, transparency has become essential: credible sustainability strategies strengthen a company’s brand image and meet the expectations of an increasingly informed target audience.

#4 Flexible design systems and modular architecture

As mentioned above, modern exhibition stand construction emphasises modularity and flexibility, with scalable construction systems that can be reused and adapted to different event formats, reducing costs and consumption of resources over time.

The use of organic forms, innovative materials, and adaptive structures shows an increasingly dynamic approach to design. Stands can be quickly adapted, enlarged or reconfigured as needed, a clear advantage in a constantly changing event landscape.

#5 The fusion of technology and visitor experience

Digital technologies are transforming exhibition stand construction. Artificial intelligence, augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and data-driven personalisation allow for highly individualised brand experiences. Nearly every exhibition stand at EuroShop featured LED staging. LED technology – seen in diamond-shaped installations, spherical elements, large screens or LED surfaces with up to 70% transparency – was omnipresent and constituted a significant visual aspect of the trade fair.

Our staff detected a focus on the seamless interaction between digital technologies and the physical space. Smart stores and data-driven applications create immersive experiences and provide valuable insights for optimising marketing and sales processes. That being said, classic scan-and-win activities are still present and will probably never completely disappear. Stand visitors are willing to engage with brands, content and interactive experiences when there are prizes involved. Competitions create low-threshold incentives, generate attention and often ensure that queues form in front of the stands.

Conclusion

Our key findings from EuroShop 2026 make this clear: trade fair exhibitors are moving away from simple product presentation and towards immersive experiences that create emotional loyalty and bring their brands to life in a sustainable fashion.

Successful trade fair presentations combine strategic design, interactive elements, sustainable concepts and innovative technologies to create a consistent brand presentation. To stand out from the competition, you have to think of trade fair stands as spaces that deliver experiences – they should evoke emotionality, stimulate and be clearly directed at the target group.
