Coronavirus was an unprecedented test that brought the event business mostly to a standstill. EXPO EVENT helped the sector to gain visibility and brought together lots of smaller associations. Its strength and commitment were much appreciated and membership numbers even grew. It now wants to become the national industry association with the power to negotiate with the authorities when necessary.

The industry is still suffering the after-effects of coronavirus and a lack of skilled personnel. Other challenges include the conflict in Ukraine, the related energy crisis and the risk of electricity shortages in winter, plus rising prices of raw materials.

Promoting sustainability is a key issue in the event business. EXPO EVENT now offers certification for ISO 20121 Event Sustainability Management System. Most members are confident about the future. In ten years, the industry will still be organising great live communication projects, as the need for real contact in our digitised world will increase rather than decrease.
